Bachelor of Science in Social Work
The Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) Program of Tubod College is a professional academic program designed to develop competent, ethical, and socially responsive social workers equipped with the knowledge, values, skills, and attitudes necessary to promote human well-being, social justice, and community empowerment. The program commits to producing graduates who can respond effectively to complex social issues through evidence-based practice, research, advocacy, and community engagement.
The Social Work Program operates within the standards and policies established by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), particularly the CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 39, Series of 2017 – Policies, Standards, and Guidelines for the Bachelor of Science in Social Work Program, which provides the framework for curriculum requirements, faculty qualifications, student outcomes, internship/field instruction, and quality assurance mechanisms for social work education in the Philippines. The program also aligns with CHED’s outcomes-based education framework, ensuring that graduates demonstrate professional competencies required for ethical and effective social work practice.
Curriculum
Community-focused curriculum for social change.
Teaching
Compassionate teaching with real-world engagement.
Overview
The program is likewise guided by relevant national laws and professional standards, including Republic Act No. 4373 (Social Work Law), as amended by Republic Act No. 10847, which regulates the practice of social work and establishes the requirements for professional licensure in the Philippines. It adheres to the principles of the Philippine Social Work Code of Ethics, emphasizing service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, professional integrity, competence, and the importance of human relationships. Furthermore, the program recognizes the importance of human rights-based and culturally responsive practice and other social welfare-related policies that shape social work intervention and advocacy.
The program aims to strengthen a practice-informed and research-based social work curriculum that prepares learners for professional practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, institutions, and communities. It promotes a multicultural and inclusive learning environment where diversity, equity, human rights, and ethical practice are integrated into academic instruction and field-based experiences. The program further develops students’ competencies in applying social work theories, methods, strategies, and interventions across various practice settings.
The program emphasizes holistic student formation through academic preparation, field exposure, research engagement, community extension, and adherence to professional conduct. Students are trained to integrate Filipino cultural values such as kapwa, bayanihan, pakikiramdam, kagandahang-loob, and karangalan with global social work principles to develop culturally competent and ethical practitioners.
The Social Work Program of Tubod College implements policies on admission, retention, student discipline, field trips, alumni engagement, and board examination preparation to ensure continuous academic and professional development.
Ultimately, the Social Work Program of Tubod College seeks to produce competent, compassionate, and transformative social workers who are prepared to address societal challenges, empower vulnerable populations, and contribute to sustainable community development in the Philippines and beyond.

Welcome Message of the Program Dean
Welcome to the Bachelor of Science in Social Work Program of Tubod College.
Social work is a profession founded on compassion, social responsibility, and commitment to human dignity and social justice. As the Program Head, I take pride in leading a program dedicated to developing future social workers who are equipped with professional knowledge, ethical values, practical skills, and a strong commitment to serving individuals, families, groups, and communities.
Guided by our mantra, “Educating Tomorrow’s Social Agents,” the Social Work Program continuously strives to provide quality education through a practice-informed and research-based curriculum, meaningful field experiences, community engagement, and holistic student formation. We nurture learners who value inclusivity, cultural competence, integrity, and lifelong learning as essential foundations of professional social work practice.
Aligned with the standards of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the professional principles of social work in the Philippines, our program prepares students to become competent and ethical practitioners who can respond to emerging social challenges and contribute to sustainable community development. Through collaboration with communities and partner institutions, we empower our students to become advocates of social change and champions of human well-being.
To our students, may you embrace this journey with dedication, humility, and perseverance. Your education in social work is not only about acquiring a profession; it is about becoming a catalyst for positive transformation in the lives of others.
Together, let us continue building a future where compassion meets action and knowledge creates meaningful change.
